Parents' House is our second home – THE BEŠIĆ FAMILY

(The most difficult thing we faced in our lives brought along people who have become our second family)

After hearing the diagnosis, the life you lived until then loses its shape and turns to worry and fear. For the Bešić family from Srebrenica, worries and fears are in the past now. They bravely and calmly faced the treatment of their daughter Nadja (4) who heroically fought off acute lymphoblastic leukemia, never losing hope and their smiles. They often talk about how many difficult days they had, but they never thought of surrendering or giving up. Strong will and positive attitude are the two things they believe paved the way to curing their daughter Nađa, but they also believe that everything would be all the more difficult and uncertain without the people by their side who encouraged them, comforted them and made them laugh in the hardest of times. Of everything they've been through, they remember many more positive and beautiful moments than the negative ones.

They say that the most beautiful thing in the whole story was that the Parents’ House felt like home for Nađa and them (Nađa still calls it "my house"). During the regular check-ups, the Bešić family never miss to visit Nađa's house. Nađa's mother Atifa says, "The hardest thing that we faced in our lives brought along many more positive things than negative ones. It brought us the people who have become our second family. We are extremely grateful to the team of the Association Heart for the Kids with Cancer for providing their support, care and hope; it is invaluable. Furthermore, the House helped us to relive our financial worries, as they provided accommodation and victuals for us, so we felt a tremendous sense of relief. Our daughter Nađa was provided perfect conditions for her treatment, where everything was adapted to a cancer-affected child. "

For the Bešić family and all the others, the Parents' House is much more than a useful accommodation. The parents' house is their second home forever.
