CHILDREN WITH CANCER GET 120 NEW HEROES!

A blood donation campaign has been organised by the Association “A Heart for Children with Cancer”, the FBiH Red Cross, the Red Cross of the Centar Municipality and the FBiH Institute for Transfusion Medicine.

As children with cancer are often in need of transfusion due to the nature of treatment they undergo, the Association, the Red Cross and the Institute have decided to launch a voluntary blood donation campaign at the Parents’ House, which has become synonymous with the second home for these brave children. This is the second such campaign to be held at the Parents’ House, driven by the desire of altruistic donors to help and the needs of children with cancer.

Much like the first campaign, the second one was also a huge success with a total of 147 people applying, of whom 120 met the requirements and successfully donated their blood. The fact that the campaign attracted such a praiseworthy turnout shows that there are a lot of altruists who are willing to support vulnerable groups. Children with cancer are one such group that needs blood daily to successfully complete their intensive cancer treatment. Children with cancer are true heroes, but they cannot withstand cancer treatment on their own. They also need to have their own heroes who will save them. That is why the slogan of this campaign was “Give Blood, Be Their Hero!”.

“When we say that you are giving a lifesaving gift, we mean it literally because our children need blood and blood derivatives on a daily basis to withstand the rest of their treatment. Without blood, their treatment would not be possible and their treatment outcomes would be uncertain. We are very grateful to all the people who took part in the campaign and who will surely help to cure least one child, which is an highly worthy cause”, said Fikret Kubat, director of the “A Heart for Children with Cancer” association.

“We owe a deep debt of gratitude to all those who participated in today’s voluntary campaign at the Parents’ House. Once again, the donors have shown that little heroes are not alone, and that they are always there to help. We are very happy with today’s turnout and no words can express our gratitude. Blood is a medicine that has no substitute and blood donation saves lives. There is nothing more valuable than that”, said Namik Hodžić, general secretary of the FBiH RC.
