DONORS' NIGHT: A SMILE EVERY DAY

On 4 December 2017, the American Chamber of Commerce in BiH, in cooperation with the Association “Srce za djecu koja boluju od raka u FBiH” (Heart for children suffering from cancer in the FBiH), held a Donors' Night titled “Osmijeh svaki dan” (A smile every day) with the aim of collecting funds in support of the work of the “Parent’s House” in Sarajevo.

The presence of a large number of donors who either purchased one or more individual tickets for the Donors' Night or gave their support through donor packages proves that the AmChamBiH has successfully animated the business community to actively engage in the provision of financial support to the "Parent's House" in order to be secure its smooth operation.

The Donors' Night did not aim only to secure funds, but also to raise awareness of volunteerism while forming a network of volunteers - representatives of companies, who, through volunteering activities, will continue to contribute to its more successful work from day to day. "We are proud that during the Donors' Night, next to collecting the funds in the amount of approximately 50,000 BAM, which is about one-third of the amount necessary for the annual maintenance of the House, we received a large number of applications for volunteer work. It is no coincidence that, just before the International Day of Volunteers, AmChamBiH members, friends and partners showed their willingness to measure their social responsibility through hours of volunteering spent in socialising with children with cancer, all under the slogan "A smile every day." - said the executive director of the American Chamber of Commerce in BiH, Violeta Čibukčić.

A brief motivational video about the work of the "Parents' House" was shown during the evening, and in this way, the attendees had a brief chance to personally see what the Parents' House means to its beneficiaries.

Also, the program had an emotional dimension coming from a mother of a child who went through the treatment, and who spoke before the donors about her experience and significance of the "Parents' House", and the presence of “MladiCE” - young people who won their fight against malignant diseases. They are volunteers of the Association who impersonate the hope because of their persistence!

"The Parents' House was our second home. After learning about the diagnosis, when our world collapsed, we started rebuilding it together with the House. I am grateful to the Association and the employees of the House with all my heart – said Atifa Buldić – Bešić, a beneficiary of the House and a parent of a treated girl, at the Donor's Night. On behalf of the Association “Srce za djecu koja boluju od raka u FBiH” and the "Parents' House", Mr.Fikret Kubat, the Vice President of the Association, expressed his enormous gratitude to the American Chamber of Commerce in BiH for the organization of the Donors' Night, as well as to all donors for their selfless support. The American Chamber of Commerce in BiH will continue to work with the Association to achieve a common goal, which is to find a systematic solution that will allow the Parents' House to exist for a prolonged time.
