Telemach and Edin Džeko,friends of theParents' House
The Parents' House has been writing beautiful stories lately, all to make our brave parents and even braver youngsters feel as comfortable as possible while fighting their tough battles.
All we have to do is support them, each in their own way, because with smiles and parents around, things are much easier.
Telemach recognised the importance of the Parents' House some time ago, and now one its new friends is Edin Džeko, the captain of the BiH national football team.
Today, they decided to jointly give their contribution to the work of the Parents' House and they spent some time with children and parents, bringing alongan abundance of smiles, joy and enthusiasm – which is something we are all aiming at.
Telemach and Edin Džeko decided to provide their support to the Association and the Parents' House by donating funds for the maintenance of one apartment for next three years.
“We are very grateful to the Telemach Foundation and Edin Džeko for everything they do for the Association and the Parents’ House. They are our long-time friends, and thatfriendship is now even deeper. We are especially grateful because Edin Džeko’s visitprovoked so many smiles and so much excitement – the children were more than happy. This kind of support is very important and we hope and expect the rest of the community to join in the same way”, said Fikret Kubat, Director of the Association Heart for the kids with cancer.
Each apartmentin the Parents’ House has its own name and thematic interior. Telemach and EdinDžeko chose to donate for apartment No.1 named “Start” to symbolically start a story that should inspire many. Namely, annual financing of one apartment costs BAM 10,000 and Telemach and Edin Džeko signed the contract for next three years.
“My every visit to the Parents’ House evokes a special emotion. I have met many children and their parents who are constantly struggling; this is just a small contribution to their struggle. Only they know what they are going through and how difficult it is. We share their pain, but we have to stand by them as a community and try to ease their struggle even for a little bit. Some people donate, some just visit, and some simply make them smilebecause that’s the least we can do. The Telemach initiative to help the Parents’ House is truly commendable and I am happy to be a part of this story and I urge others to contribute as well”, said Edin Džeko, the captain of the BiH national football team and celebrity endorser of Telemach, a company represented by the Chairwoman of the Telemach Foundation Steering Committee,HajdiMostić, who talked about reasons for choosing Edin Džeko as their celebrity endorser and about the Parents’ House.
“Džeko is one of the most recognizable BiHambassadors in the world, a person who sends a positive message about our country. Edin, the synonym of humanity, keeps helping others selflessly and is a role model for young generations. These are exactly the values that Telemach has been nourishing and developing since its founding through a series of socially responsible activities. Therefore, cooperation with such a person, a big-hearted professional, is a natural step in the development of this partnership. Through the Telemach Foundation we have been working on socially responsible projects, especially in the field of education and employment of young people, projects through which we invest in the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina – the children.This is just a continuation of our story. After all, we have announced many projects with Edin Džeko and I am honoured to say that we managed to realize the first project before the scheduled deadline because we easily agreed that the Parents’ House is a bright and successful example of how a remarkable and committed team started with the idea of helping little patients and managed to achieve a sustainable solution.”
We are proud to be the first sponsor and a friend of the “Be a Friend of a Room” programaimed at finding a long-term solution for the survival and further development of the Parents’ House. We wish our partnership with the Parents’ House serves as an additional motive for the brave little ones using the House, to overcome this challenge as great winners. The Telemach - Džeko “Start” room should also serve as an encouragement to our fellow citizens and companies to support the “Be a Friend of a Room” initiative and program, with the hope that all rooms find their sponsors as soon as possible”, said Hajdi Mostić.
On behalf of the Parents’ House, we are sincerely grateful to Telemach and EdinDžeko for their donation that helped providea warm home in the Parents’ House and a sense of safety to families whose children are being cured of cancer.
The Parents’ House opened in April 2016 and is located in thePediatric Clinic Jezero in Sarajevo. It has a usable surface of 700 m2 divided into 10 family apartments with a bathroom, a shared kitchen and living room, multifunctional hall with a playroom, laundry room, roof terrace and landscaped green areas for relaxation and recreation.
The Parents’ House provides ill children and their families a second home, a family atmosphere and a place where they can forget about hospital treatments at least for a moment.
In May 2018, the Association “Heart for the kids with cancer” launched an innovative and specially designed self-sustainability program for the Parents’ House and invites you to be part of our success story.
The apartment sponsorship program – A Friend of the Parents’ House covers the costs of family accommodation, utility bills, apartment maintenance, hygiene products and disinfectants, as well as psychologist and social worker counselling, and is implemented for a period of one, two or three years.
